Thanks to the generosity of the Diocese of Peoria and Bishop Louis Tylka, the Diocese of Rochester will be receiving a “substantial” first-class relic of Bishop Sheen.

The week after Bishop Sheen’s Beatification in St. Louis on Sept. 24, 2026, Bishop Tylka will visit the Diocese of Rochester to bring us the relic.

We will receive this relic in a special Mass on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, at 7 p.m. at Rochester’s Sacred Heart Cathedral. All are invited to attend this special event when Bishop Sheen returns to his cathedral, our cathedral!

Come to the Cathedral and chant the Novena prayers from 11:30-12:00, just before Mass from September 21st – September 25th.

On Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th, there will be the traditional candlelight chanting of the Novena at 7pm.

On September 29th, there will be an additional Mass at 12:10pm as the official conclusion of the Novena Prayers.

Keep in mind that the Diocesan Mass for Bl. Fulton Sheen will take place later that same evening at 7:00pm
